The small, yellow, Black Creek Castle (Svarta Slott)

After 2 days on Stenskar we took the scenic way to Porkkala (Cora's grandmother's island) via Svarta Slott which, unknown to me, had really incredible meals. Micca was kind enough to treat us to a lovely meal, and Svarta Slott was kind enough to provide us with a sweet waitress who offered to go outside and pick fresh berries herself for Micca's off-the-menu request. Sadly, the season was too cold and there were none to pick. Cora had a nice steak and Micca, Nick and I all had the reindeer and elk plate, followed by rasberry creme brulee for Nick and Cora, sorbet for Lucy and of course, berries with cream and sugar for Mike. Mmmmm.

The whole place was a historic Manor with a built-in conference center (including a sauna, of course). It had some interesting art work too...

From here we continued on to Porkkala for the night and drove the next day back to Helsinki to visit with Cora's great-aunt Inge. She was a lovely woman who served more Ice Cream than I've seen in a while. I enjoyed the strawberries and we visited for about 3 hours, ran to the bookstore, back to the apartment and finished at Cora's grandfather's grave before heading back to Porkkala. We were kicked out of most places as we went as each was closing... first the grocery store where we hastily grabbed some snacks dubbed dinner under the watchful nose of the security guard, then the graveyard which closed as we left at 10:00 pm. It was late when we arrived at Porkkala near midnight and Micca decided that he would prefer to stay up till 3:30 am when we were to turn back to Helsinki to take him to the airport. phew... I was ready for sleeping when arrived back at the apartment in the city.
